The Digital Fifth along with Cashfree Payments is launching a White Paper on “Supporting digital payments adoption via the promise of SoftPoS” looks at the potential of SoftPoS in easing the deployment of payments acceptance infrastructure, thereby increasing the penetration of digital payments, furthering merchant acquisition and supporting the RBI in the goals set out for the Payments Infrastructure Development Fund. It studies the evolution and increasing sophistication of the PoS terminal, and brings out the specific advantages an SoftPoS offers for merchants and customers. It also looks at the impact this can have on the UPI vs. cards battle, bringing this to the offline space as well. Lastly, it focuses on the regulatory support that has come in here for contactless payments, merchant onboarding, etc., the challenges arising with the adoption of SoftPoS and where further support is needed.
